Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced that the Penang Water Supply Corporation will carry out 23 upgrading projects to improve the state’s water distribution system.
GEORGE TOWN: Penang is set to experience a planned water outage lasting up to 60 hours, from April 25 to 28, affecting over 341,000 account holders across the region.
Chow Kon Yeow, the Chief Minister of Penang, stated that the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) will undertake these projects to enhance water distribution in the state.
βThe works will only require 18 hours, but the process of restoring water supply takes time. Some areas may have their supply restored earlier,β he said during a press conference at Komtar.
He highlighted that key projects include the final pipe connection over Sungai Perai in Ampang Jajar, spanning 360 meters, and upgrading pipes near the Sungai Dua water treatment plant.
Additionally, Chow noted that other tasks will involve repairing and improving treated water pumping systems and major pipelines throughout the state.
